Mail Merge Fields

Hi,

Is it possible to refer to a data field in a parent merge group. For example:-

«BeginGroup:main_rec»

name is «cname»

«BeginGroup:ssinstal_rec»

The name in the parent main_rec is «main_rec.cname»

«EndGroup:ssinstal_rec»

«EndGroup:main_rec»

I've tried using an alias as shown above which doesn't work. Is there any way of achieving this?

Generally merge field name cannot be accessed using its group name as «main_rec.cname». Merge field can be accessed only when the merge field name in the document is similar to the field name in the data table. From your requirement, it is clear that you need to preserve the merge field of the outer group (“main_rec”) within the nested group (“ssinstal_rec”). Currently DocIO performs mail merging only when the field name is specified within their respective groups. The field name specified in the other groups cannot be merged during mail merging. This is the current behavior of DocIO and not an issue.
