GetMergeFieldNames

I've go a Word mail merge document that has merge fields and group merge fields. I've used the "TableStart:" and "TableEnd:" to indicate groups. When I use the GetMergeFieldsNames it returns all the merge fields, even the group fields. How do i just return the merge fields that aren't in the group? To be honest i **thought** i had this working before.
