As a commercial software developer myself, I understand slip. But when we are told on the 19th that is will ship in "hours" or at least by the "end of the week" then we start getting ready for it. When it doesn't ship on time, it looks bad but is understandable. When it doesn't ship on time repeatedly, we start to loose confidence in the company and the product. Just something to keep in mind.
