EditableList Control Issues

Hi,

I was using SyncFusion Studio version 4.0. I had a form with the EditableList control which allowed to add , edit & delete the list items. It was working fine. I upgraded to version 5.0 today & now the control doesn't work as expected. I am getting null or empty value for the editable listbox selected item.

editableList1.ListBox.SelectedItem is null when user presses enter after editing the item

editableList1.ListBox.SelectedItem is empty when user clicks outside after editing the item

In both the situations textbox leave event fires properly.

I have attached code for textbox leave event.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Usha

Hi Usha,

Thank you for your details.

I have created a sample to test the null and empty SelectedItem issue. It is available in the following link:
http://websamples.syncfusion.com/samples/Tools.Windows/F71395/main.htm

I could see the issue in version 5.1.0.51 but this issue is fixed in our latest version Essential Studio 2008 volume 1[6.1.0.34]. I have attached the tested video file and it is available in the following link:
http://websamples.syncfusion.com/samples/Tools.Windows/VideoFile.zip

Could you please upgrade to the latest version?

You can download this version from the below forum thread:
http://www.syncfusion.com/support/forums/message.aspx?&MessageID=70234

Please check the issue in the latest version and let me know if this helps.

Best Regards,
Jeba.

Hi Jeba,
I upgraded to Syncfusion 6.1.0.34 as you suggested.

Now editableList1.ListBox.SelectedItem has value & is not null when user presses enter after editing the item

however editableList1.ListBox.SelectedItem is empty when user clicks outside after editing the item

In both the situations textbox leave event fires properly.

so still the control is not working as expected.

This used to work properly in version 4.0.

I will appreciate any help/answer.

Thanks,
Usha

Hi Usha,

Thank you for your upgrade and interest in Syncfusion Products.

I was not able to see the textbox leave event fires when user clicks outside the EditListControl after editing the item. I could see the event fires when user clicks inside the EditListControl after editing the item both in 4.4.0.51 and also in 6.1.0.34.

I have tested this using the sample in the previous reply and attached another video file for your reference. The video file is available in the following link:
http://websamples.syncfusion.com/samples/Tools.Windows/VideoF71395.zip

Could you please explain more about the outside click? This will help us to analyze the issue further and provide you a solution early.

Regards,
Jeba.

Hi Jeba,
Thanks for the reply.

You are right the textbox leave event doesn't fire when user clicks outside the EditListControl. (it should)

Also As you stated the textbox leave event fires when user clicks inside the EditListControl in both version 4 & 6 but in version 6 the editableList1.ListBox.SelectedItem is empty, in version 4 selectedItem has the text which was entered.

The expected behavior should be that the textbox leave event should fire whenever user clicks/tabs out from the textbox or presses enter and the selectedItem should have the text which was entered. It shouldn't matter whether user clicks inside the EditListControl or outside the EditListControl.

Otherwise we have to tell the user to exclusively press enter key to add or update an item.

I will really appreciate if you could provide a solution.

Thanks,
usha

Hi Usha,

Sorry for the delay in response.

Issue 1:Textbox leave event does not fire when user clicks outside the EditListControl.
Issue 2: SelectedItem returns empty in the textbox leave event.

The above two issues are suspected to be a defect . Could you please create two separate incidents with the Forum id as subject?

Example: F71395-Textbox leave event does not fire when user clicks outside the EditListControl.

We will provide details regarding the fix in the Direct-Trac incidents.

Regards,
Jeba.
