Multiple concats with ampersand

Is it possible to express a formula that does multiple concatenations using ampersands?

When I try a formula such as =[A]&[B] I get an error stating the [A] was "not followed properly".

Similarly, if I try to pre-pend a string literal to the expression such as ="test" & [A] I get an error stating that it was not preceded properly
