Allright, the situation is that I want to show some data stored in DataSet, with each line containing fields from different tables, somehow bound with each other. The result form has to have group headers, perhaps some nested controls (combo boxes, date/time pickers, images etc.) within the group headers and group footers (yes, these have to be there, too) For now I doubt that the grid can give me the possibility to make all this (i mean, yes, it can be grouped, sorted and filtered, yes, there ARE group headers, but no footers, no covered cells to make these footers manually, no possibility to insert a line between two data rows, to insert controls into that empty line etc.)

If you look at our grouping demo you see there are group headers and group footers with summaries. The way that is implemented is that the GroupingGrid is derived from a regular grid and then QueryCoveredRange and QueryCellInfo is handled to supply covered ranges and cell information on demand.
