This is a small system tray application (.NET 2.0, C#, VS 2005) with notify icon component. It has two forms.

The parent form has a multiline textbox control and is launched minimized/hidden; places the notify icon in the system tray.

On a single click of the notify icon, the child form is supposed to popup and present the user with a textbox for entering data. On closing this second form, any data in the textbox of the child form should be transfered to the textbox of the parent form.

This application works well in debug mode within VS 2005. But does not function properly in standalone mode.

The problem is when the child form is launched subsequent to the click of the notify icon, the textbox of the child form does not receive focus. The user will have to click the mouse in the textbox before entering any data.

Will appreciate if somebody can throw some light. Project is enclosed.

Thanks much in advance.

Hi Bspeng,
It seems the application is not active at that time.Please try activating the same.

this.Activate(); //This does it.

// display the child form
if (f2.ShowDialog() == DialogResult.OK){
// get the text entered by the user on the child form
textBox1.Text = f2.tbText;
