Working With Dates

I am working with VB 2005 and SQL SERVER 2000. There is some problem i face when entering a date value from the front end to the back end. When i try to do so i get this error message. "The conversion of a char data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range datetime value." i got rid of this error by changing the date format in the regional settings. But i dont think this is a permanent solution. i need the solution for a software which ios going to run on a network. it means i have to change the regional setting of all the systems on which the software is going to run. it is not feasible. is there any solution for this. Many Thanks, Vijay
