Additionally when I call suspend/resume binding(for bulk data updates) with the grid window maximized, it interferes with the tracking of the mouse.
The mouse cursor appears to temporarily freeze(for a very small period) during this phase.
Have you any suggestions on how to prevent this?

Do you have any tight loops in your updating code? If so, this may explain the pause. Might try causing Thread.Sleep every so often in your loop to so if this makes it more responsive.
