I know the 3.0 EditControl is a new control. How close to development maturity does Syncfusion consider this control now. How does the next version (soon to be relased v3.2.x.x) compare in features with the old legacy control at this point in time.

Hi Steve,
The new EditControl is a fully mature control and the next release (v3.3) has improved intellisense support, and all the features of Edit Legacy. We are in the final testing phase for v3.3 and plan to bring it out shortly. We appreciate your interest in Syncfusion products and thanks for your patience.

You say the new control has all the features of the legacy control. What features does it have that the legacy control doesn''t? I''m trying to guage whether its worth upgrading.

Hi Steve,
The new Edit has comparatively improved architecture and extensibility. The highlights would be XML based syntax highlighting configuration files (instead of INI files like in Edit Legacy), superior performance in large file handling operations (loads a 28MB text file with outlining and syntax highlighting in about a second), Wordwrap, powerful intellisense features like ContextChoice, ContextPrompt, and ContextTooltip, and much more.
Also, the development of Edit Legacy has been frozen (and will eventually be phased out), but we will continue to support Edit Legacy (workarounds only) in the near future. So we recommend you to upgrade to the new Edit as soon as possible.
Please let me know if you need information on any specific feature that you are looking for. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding on this matter.
