Filter dialog only shows checkbox menu, if the field is in Pivot filters area.

Hi ,

I have a pivot table with a date field. In the filters area I want to filter this field by date range but I can't get the label filter view. If the field is in the rows or columns area, the label filter appears, but if the field is in the filters area, the label filter does not appear. Showing only checkbox filter

How can I get the label/Date filter view in the filters area?

Hi Mehmet,

In pivot table, advanced filtering (value and label filtering) allows you to perform complex filtering operations to extract specific data that meets certain criteria. It is only applicable to fields that are bound to the column and row axes. Member filtering, on the other hand, can be applied to the fields bound to the row, column, and filter axes. This is the pivot table's standard behaviour.

Ok thanks for your answer but I didn't understand why this is standard behavior. as I understand it the purpose of using the filter area is to remove lines from the output that do not meet the criteria.

What does it matter if it's label or member filtering?

Kind regards

Hi Mehmet,

Advanced filtering (label and value filtering) works only with the row and column headers and aggregated values that are displayed in the pivot table. Therefore, it only applies to fields that are bound to the column and row axes. Fields on the filter axis, on the other hand, allow you to slice the data of the rows and columns presented in the pivot table based on their members. As a result, we can only use the member filtering with the filter axis fields. This is the pivot table's standard behavior. Microsoft’s Excel exhibits the same behavior.
