Exception when using Cancel or Exit from edit dialogue

I have experienced an exception on 2 pages with a data grid. The grid is configured in edit dialogue mode. When I enter the edit dialogue to Add a new row/record and immediately press the Cancel or X (close dialogue) option I get an exception:-

System.NullReferenceException: 'Object reference not set to an instance of an object.'

However, if I select/highlight a row in the grid first and then Add and immediately select either Cancel or X this does not happen.

Does anyone have any ideas?

We have confirmed this as an issue and logged the defect report “Exception throws when clicking cancel in Add form” for the same. Thank you for taking time to report this issue and helping us to improve our product. At Syncfusion, we are committed to fix all validated defects (subject to technological feasibility and Product Development Life Cycle) and this fix will be included in our upcoming patch release which is expected to be rolled out on or before 21st   September, 2022.

Sorry for the Inconvenience.


We are facing difficulties in fix, so we are not able to include the reported ““Exception throws when clicking cancel in Add form” in our mentioned patch release as promised. We have planned to include this in our upcoming Volume 3 release .

Thank you. There is a workaround - by selecting an existing row before press Add then the Cancel or X (exit window) functions work as expected.
