Images don't get pasted from Word when Numbered Lists are included

We are Using Version 20.2.0.36

For our Application, we need to be able to Paste Content from Whole Word Documents with all the Images Included. This works fine, even with a lot of Text. But as soon as there is a Numbered List Included no Images get Pasted anymore, just the alt-Text.

We have tried to replicate the reported issue at our end by copy and pasting images with numbering lists. but unfortunately, we didn't face any issues as you reported. we have also prepared a video illustration for your reference,

Can you please share the details below?

  • Exact issue reproducing steps.
  • issue replicating video illustration.
  • Entire code snippet.
  • If possible, please share us with the issue reproducing runnable sample.
  • Entire copy and pasted content from MS Word.

Here is a more detailed description


For our Application, we need to be able to Paste Content from Whole Word Documents with all the Images Included. This works fine, even with a lot of Text. 

But in certain Documents, the Images can't get Pasted when the copied Content contains a numbered List. 


But if we remove the numbering, it gets pasted fine.

The numbered List is styled like this in Word: 


Although we are not sure why this happens, because when we create a List with the same Format in another Document, it works fine.

We have followed the steps you have shared to replicate the issue at our end. but we didn't face any issues while copy and pasting the numbered lists contents with images into Rich Text Editor. we have also prepared a video for your reference,'

Please share us with the entire Word document, from where you copied and pasted the contents into the Editor to replicate the issue at our end.

First of all, we also noticed a new Bug. When only copying one Image from Word without any text or anything else. The Image can't get pasted into the RTE, but no error appears. 


Attached is the File with the numbered List which can't get pasted into the RTE.

We can replicate the reported issue. but it is occurring since the copy and pasted image has local path resources. So currently, we are validating the issue and we will update you the further details in two business days on or before 16th August 2022.

Meanwhile can you please share us with the details below,

  • From where do you copy and paste the image into the Word document?
  • Please share that link or image location?

I don't think the Bug appears because of the Image, in the attachments is a file with the same image from the same source which can be copied and pasted without Problem. I think the Problem originates in the Text. The Bug appears no matter what image we use, as long as the text is formatted like we showed you in our last reply.

We have checked the file attached and tried to replicate the issue by creating a new word document and formatted the numbered lists as you did and pasted the same image into the Word. Then copy and pasted the whole content into the Rich Text Editor. but we didn't face any issues. We have also prepared a video for your reference,

Hi Vinitha,


As I've mentioned before, the Problem doesn't appear when we Format the Text ourselves. Only when it is copied from one of the Documents our Customer provided. (The Numbered List in the File PageNotWorking.docx)

Hi Chris,


We want to let you know that when we are copying and pasting the attached docs file which has the formatted text content along with image, the browser doesn't return the RTF data itself from the clipboard,



So, without the RTF data, the image cannot be processed when pasting along with the text content.

Please let us know if you have any concerns.
