How to span rows and columns?

I would like to do this

ASP.NET Core Data Grid Row Spanning Example - Syncfusion Demos
in Blazor. With QueryCellInfoEventArgs I can access args.Rowspan and args.ColSpan... but assigning values does not take any effect... Am I missing something?
