Create Chat UI Style text entry box

Question

Hi,

I was studying your control and was wondering is it possible to create a Chat UI style text entry box hiding the chat bubbles above and just having the entry field for text.

I'd need it to be able to increase and decrease in size as text is entered up to a max of around 5 lines before the text in the box starts to scroll!

I've experimented with a standard Xamarin editor in a grid but the editor doesn't decrease with the text content decreasing and was wondering would your control?

Hi Raymond, 

We are unclear about your requirement. We suspect your requirement is to increase and decrease the size of the editor giving multiline input in the editor. However, we are unable to understand the exact scenario and the requirement of hiding the chat bubbles.  We would also like to let you know that we too have used Xamarin.Forms.Editor as text input view in SfChat. Please revert to us in detail with illustration video or image of your requirement. It will be helpful for us to understand the exact requirement and to provide a prompt solution.

I have a list view and a message "post" area (some text has been redacted)

This is the default state when loaded which is fine. When I add text, the UI is fine.

However, when I remove the text, the control doesn't return to the state as shown in Picture 1 (there is an additional margin)

Would your control remedy this issue?

Hi Raymond, 

We have checked the same scenario in our SfChat control, it works fine in our end where InpuTextView resize correctly in our end. Could you please confirm whether you are using SfChat or attempting to create a custom chat with a ListView and a custom editor on your end? Please revert to us with code snippets or simple sample to reproduce the reported issue to proceed further on this.
