Blazor Extensions won't update

Your latest 19.4.0.50 extension won't update. VS shows it as being available to update.  When I click update, it downloads and tells me that it will update the extension on close (of VS).  However, when I close VS, I get the message that all applicable updates have been installed.

So the only way to upgrade this extension is to remove it.

Then I get this:

Restart VS, search for it and then re-add it again.  Close VS again.  Same error as above.  Then this:

You guys have the potential to be the best in the Blazor market, but such shoddy testing.  OMG.

Cheers,

Miles

Hi Miles,

We are facing this issue while dependency extensions are installed separately. We have reported this issue in Microsoft.

Microsoft support:  https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/t/visual-studio-extension-installation-failure-in-de/1669107l

Please follow the below steps to resolve this issue in your machine.

Resolving Steps:

1.       Open Visual Studio 2022 and go to Extensions->Manage Extensions->Installed then search ‘Syncfusion’ in the search box.

2.       Select Blazor Extensions – Syncfusion.

3.       Click Uninstall button ad close all Visual Studio instances and VSIX Installer is opened.

4.       Click Modify button and then uninstallation process is started.

  1. Once the uninstallation is completed, open Visual Studio 2022, go to Extensions->Manage Extensions > installed, search for Syncfusion in the search box and check whether the dependency extensions of Blazor Extensions-Syncfusion (Syncfusion Blazor Code Generator, Syncfusion Blazor UI Scaffolder, Syncfusion EJ2 Web conversion and migration, and Syncfusion Menu Common) are installed or not.

6.       If these extensions are installed, uninstall it by following steps 3 and 4.

7.       Once the above steps are completed, navigate to the below paths and search following Syncfusion.Menu.Common.dll, Syncfusion.Blazor.Scaffolding.UI.dll, Syncfusion Blazor Template Studio.dll, SyncfusionBlazorcodegenerator.dll and Syncfusion EJ2 Web Conversion and Migration.dll in the search box and delete that folder containing that Syncfusion DLLs if exists.

     Path 1: %localappdata%\Microsoft\VisualStudio\{17.0_random folder number} \Extensions\

    Path 2: {Microsoft Visual Studio Installed Location}\ Common7\IDE\Extensions\

8.       After uninstall process completed then reinstall the Blazor Extensions – Syncfusion by following below steps,

9.       In Visual Studio go to Extensions -> Manage Extensions -> Online and search the Syncfusion extensions by provide the keyword as Syncfusion and find the Blazor Extensions – Syncfusion.

10.   Then, click on the install button to install the extension.

11.   Now close the Visual Studio and click on the install button in VSIX installer dialog.

12.   Once completed, try the Syncfusion Blazor Extensions with the 19.4.0.50 version.

Kindly provide information on how you previously installed the Syncfusion Blazor Extensions via Syncfusion Build or Visual Studio Marketplace, so that we can investigate further.

Thanks,
Kalirajan Ganesan.
