Locked fields - display message when clicked

Is there a way to display a message to a user when they click/tap into a field that is locked in the pdf form viewer?

Hi Rudy,

Based on your query, you have mentioned a word “Locked fields” and to make our understanding clear can you please let us know the word “fields” you mentioned for “form fields annotations” or all other annotations(shape, ink, etc).

Form field annotations (ie. TextBox, ComboBox, RadioButton, CheckBox etc.) when field is made readOnly or flattened.

Attached is a sample file. The fields displayed with orange rectangle are considered locked (readOnly or flattened). When clicked we want to display message to user indicating field is locked and changes are not permitted.

We have considered your requirement to “Showcase whether form fields are read-only or not” as a usability feature and this support will be included in our upcoming 2022 Volume 1 release, which is expected to be available by end of March 2022.

Hi Rudy,

We have created a sample by using which you can meet your requirement at sample level.
Please find the sample from attachment.


Note: This sample will work fine in Android,IOS platform.But In UWP platform, we have found one issue and resolved that issue. The fix for that issue will be included in our upcoming weekly nuget release which is expected to be available on April 12,2022.

We have resolved our issue in UWP and now the fix can be available in our latest weekly NuGet(v20.1.0.48).
