Custom paging in DataGrid

I have been trying to use the data grid component and I'm stuck at implementing server side paging. It seems like there is no event raised for paging. Page service does client side paging and for server side paging the a UrlAdapter kind of component is required. however in the application I'm working on the data is provided thru the a client side function that provides data and this is the only component that interacts with the server. so in this particular case the UrlAdapter thing will not work since there is no Url but a function. 

How to implement this dynamic paging in this case?
