Kanban Swimlane Settings KeyField Only Accepts Type String

Hi,

When I had Syncfusion v19.2.0.56, I was using a Kanban with SwimlaneSettings KeyField of type Integer, and it was working fine.

Now, I updated to Syncfusion v19.3.0.43, and the Kanban SwimlaneSettings KeyField only works for type string.

Why was integer types for Kanban KeyFields removed? Is it possible to allow type integers again for the Kanban Swimlane Settings?

Thanks,

Kenney

Hi Kenney,

Greetings from Syncfusion support,

We have validated your reported query ”Kanban with SwimlaneSettings KeyField of type Integer, and it was working fine”. By default, the KeyField property of the Swimlane settings accepts only string type. With the package version 19.2.56, the cards will be loaded in the Kanban when integer type is configured. But the functionalities like Drag and drop cards between Columns and Swimlane rows and dialog editing is not possible.

With the latest version, 19.3.43 the cards are not loaded in kanban. We suspect this is the issue, you are trying to portray with the latest versions?

Yes, that is correct.

I was wondering if you can implement loading cards into the Kanban when integer type is configured in v19.3.43.

I believe having only string type allowed for KeyField for SwimlaneSettings is too restrictive.

What I had working as integer type in v19.2.56 does not work anymore after updating Syncfusion to v19.3.43, and it is frustrating.

Hi Kenney,

Thanks for your patience.

We have further validated your requirement and we have considered Provide string type support for kanban swimlane KeyField property”  as a feature from our end and logged the report for the same and it will be included in any of the upcoming releases.

You can now track the current status of the report, review the proposed resolution timeline, and contact us for any further inquiries through this linkhttps://www.syncfusion.com/feedback/29346/

Also, in the Kanban 19.2.56 version, the kanban key field property does not support string types, but it will render the cards only the first time. It does not support any update or drag-and-drop operations. You can only show the cards without doing anything else.

If you are okay with this, we will consider bringing back the existing functionality.

Regards,
Gunasekar

No, it should be  Provide integer type support for kanban swimlane KeyField property”.

Kanban swimlane KeyField property already supports string type in v19.3.43.

Why can't you have support for integer type for BOTH Kanban swimlane KeyField property, and also support for update and drag-and-drop operations?

Hi Kenney,

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Query : No, it should be  Provide integer type support for kanban swimlane KeyField property”.
We have logged a feature for the "Int" type. Also, we have updated the details in the feedback.

Query: Why can't you have support for integer type for BOTH Kanban swimlane KeyField property, and also support for update and drag-and-drop operations?

In the proposed feature, we will give support for both string and integer types, as well as update and drag-and-drop operations.

We are discussing another solution now. If you need the existing functionality(19.2.56 version functionality) quickly, then we can log the bug from our end and will bring back the existing functionality but it doesn't support update and drag-and-drop operations.

Please let us know if you have any concerns.

Regards,
Gunasekar
