Trying to learn MVC. Wow I feel dumb.

Attempted to go through the free pluralsight videos by Scott Allen on asp.net/mvc. Was able to slug through the first one (introduction to ASP.NET MVC 4). Then things escalated pretty quickly in the subsequent videos on Controllers and Razor Views. All the different variations of routes, actions, action selectors, and filters he presents are rather difficult to grasp because I can't see real world applications. Then the next course on Razor Views went right over my head. I could could not continue any more.

  • Can you recommend an easier introduction? I just need some practical examples. Allen seems to plow through all these neat capabilities of MVC without tying them to practical applications.

  • All all pluralsight courses this mercilessly fast paced? Went through Julie Lerman's series on Entity Framework, and it was much easier to follow. But then I was already familiar with the idea behind EF, so that made it easier.

ASP.NET MVC is from another planet. I understand that it requires a paradigm shift from webforms, but was not prepared for this big a difference. Nothing from my knowledge in traditional ASP, PHP, and Webforms seems to help.

Can you recommend me another set of tutorials.
