Backspace at the beginning of a line works only once

Line 1
Line 2
Line 3

Line 4

Imagine that I press backspace at the beginning of Line 4. So the line goes upwards once leaving no gap between Line 3 and Line 4. However, the input caret (cursor) is placed after L of Line 4. When pressing backspace again, it deletes the character L so it ends up being ine 4

Please try. It is easy to reproduce.

This is an annoying issue for the user.
