User Interaction : draw a rectangle

Question

I need to allow a user to select/draw a rectangle on a map -- I don't mind if the rectangle persists on the map or not after they've done it -- what I really need the user to be able to do is draw an area on the map and then get the top left / bottom right latitude and longitude pairs back into code. Is anything like this possible? Googlemap has a drawing library that's pretty similar.

Thank you for the update. 

We do not support drawing shapes in the Maps component. However, we have considered this as a feature and logged the feature request for the same. Please follow the below feedback link for further updates.

At present, we do not have plans to implement this feature. It will be available in any of our upcoming releases.
