Grid Column Chooser not displaying hidden columns specified as visible=['false'] in the html

Question

I specified visible false to one of my columns and then selected it from the column chooser but it wont display it. Is it because the html has visible false and column chooser wont re-render it? In the example of documentation ship city looks to be hidden initially and is working fine from column chooser but it is not working in my actual code

Query:  selected it from the column chooser but it wont display it.
