Syncfusion toolbox items are not installed in visual studio 2017

Hi,

I installed Visual Studio 2017 and then installed Syncfusion Winforms application. Clicked the boxes which says

                                        1)Register Syncfusion Assemblies in GAC

                                        2)Configure syncfusion controls in visual studio toolbox

But I can't see any toolbox after starting Visual Studio.

So how can I get them in VS17?

We are sorry for the inconvenience.

We are unable to reproduce the reported issue at our end. We are able to configure the Syncfusion Windows Forms controls in Visual Studio toolbox successfully.

Could you please try the following steps to resolve the reported issue?

1. Close all the Visual Studio running instances.

2. Clear all the tbd files from the following location.

Location:
C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Local\Microsoft\VisualStudio\15.0_xxxxx

Example:
C:\Users\Syncfusion\AppData\Local\Microsoft\VisualStudio\15.0_404645db

If no tbd files were shown, please click View-> Hidden items in the file explorer and clear the tbd files if present.

3. Run the Syncfusion Toolbox Installer utility and configure the Syncfusion controls in Visual Studio 2017 toolbox. Please refer the following documentation link for more information regarding toolbox configuration.

4. Ensure whether Syncfusion Toolbox extension is enabled in Visual Studio (Tools-> Extensions and updates). If the extension is disabled, please enable the extension and then run the Syncfusion Toolbox Installer utility.

If the extension is disabled, please share us the screen shot of the Visual Studio About Window for checking the reported issue at our end.

5. Open the Windows forms project, navigate to the Designer window and open the Visual Studio toolbox. Syncfusion controls will be configured in Visual Studio 2017 toolbox.

If you still face the same issue even after following the above steps, please share us the following details. It would be much helpful for us to resolve the reported issue at earliest.

1. Follow the steps suggested in below KB article and share us the zip file which consists of Syncfusion Installer logs generated by our tool.

unfortunately in my case there's even no Syncfusion Toolbox  (and any Syncfusion at all) extension  in Visual Studio (Tools-> Extensions and updates).

removing .tbd  files makes no difference, operating at :

We suspect that our extensions were not configured properly in your machine when install the Essential Studio setup. Please try the below steps and let us know if this helps you.

1. Open Visual Studio 2017 and Navigate to the Tools menu -> Extensions and Updates.

2. Search for the "Syncfusion Toolbox Installer" and "Syncfusion Windows Forms VSExtensions" and uninstall it if installed any.

3. Navigate to the below mentioned installed location and install the Syncfusion Toolbox Installer and Syncfusion Windows Forms VSExtensions manually and check.

    Location: {Drive:}\Program Files (x86)\Syncfusion\Essential Studio\Windows\{Version}\Utilities\ToolBoxInstallers\SyncfusionToolboxInstaller_VS2017.vsix

    Example: C:\Program Files (x86)\Syncfusion\Essential Studio\Windows\17.1.0.38\Utilities\ToolBoxInstallers\SyncfusionToolboxInstaller_VS2017.vsix

thx for your answer, tried to run manual installation (as admin) :

1) there was no Syncfusion Windows Forms VSExtensions.vsix present in my Syncfusion

2) running (as winadmin) :

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\2017\Community\Common7\IDE>VSIXInstaller.exe "C:\Program Files (x86)\Syncfusion\Essential Studio\Windows\17.1.0.38\Utilities\ToolBoxInstallers\SyncfusionToolboxInstaller_VS2017.vsix"

Thanks for your update.  

We will check the reported issue in a machine which has the same environment as yours and update you the details on May 23, 2019 as promised.  

In the meantime, please share us the below requested details for further investigation on our end.  

1. When install the Visual Studio 2017, whether it got interrupted?

 

2. When install the Syncfusion Essential Studio setup v17.1.0.38, whether it got interrupted?

 

3. Kindly uninstall and reinstall the Syncfusion Essential Studio setup v17.1.0.38 with default settings and ensure now. Since we suspect that there might be a problem in installation as you have said there was no Syncfusion Windows Forms VSExtensions.vsix present.

We are unable to ensure the reported issue in the prepared machine which has the same configuration as yours due to Visual Studio 2017 was not properly installed. Hence, we are working on repairing the Visual Studio 2017 now and will check and update you the further details on May 24, 2019.

We have ensured the reported toolbox configuration and extension installation issue in a machine which has the same environment as yours and confirmed that toolbox configuration and extension installation is working fine as expected.

So, as informed earlier based on the error logs you have shared, we suspect that there might be the installation problem in both Visual Studio 2017 and also in Syncfusion Essential Studio setup v17.1.0.38. So, please uninstall both the installed Visual Studio 2017 and Syncfusion Essential Studio setup v17.1.0.38 and try to reinstall them to resolve the reported issue.

Damn, it's REALLY hard to get this extensions to work. I was thinking about migrating from Devexpress to this, but I gave up. The toolbox configuration doesn't work and I took about 2 hours to get it to at least show up a template.
