Add a shape to the contents of a cell

I do so struggle with putting most things into a cell in a grid.

Is it possible to draw something (like drawpie or draw arc) an put the results into a tables cell ?

I've tried creating templates and adding the drawing elements to it, but then cannot seem to add the template to a grid cell.

am i missing something obvious here ? 

I can put text, background images, even tables into a cell so hopefully putting other items in there should be straight forward.
