Busy Indicator does not animate if inserted into navigationDrawer

I wanted to show a busy indicator after a setting is changed in my navigationDrawer, while it confirms the change was accepted by the server. However the busy indicator does not animate as it does when inserted into normal contentViews throughout my app.
