After clicking on the toolbar add text item, it will add a text annotation over the image stating "Enter Text" and the footer toolbar will have sub toolbar to show which color you want to choose for your text, if you click on the text annotation then a pop up will appear to edit the preferred text by closing the sub toolbar with colors. Also, if you click on the image this sub toolbar will disappear and the text annotation will lose focus, if you want to choose the colors again you can reselect the text annotation and click on the colors icon in the toolbar and choose a different color. The disappearance of the sub toolbar with colors while touching other than the text annotation is the behavior.
