UWP Toolbox is empty with target version 1803 (10.0; Build 17125)

I downloaded and installed the Windows_InsiderPreview_SDK_en-us_17125.
Now I am unable to set my target to anything earlier than Fall Creators Update (10.0; 16299).

Setting the minimum version to (10.0; 10240) does not help either, The toolbox stays empty and even when I try to add a UWP dll manually it says there are no items available for the toolbox.

There are no components in 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Syncfusion\Essential Studio\16.1.0.32\Assemblies for Universal Windows\10.0\Syncfusion.SfCellGrid.UWP.dll' that can be placed on the toolbox.

OK

Which target version do you support? I would like to use the new TreeView component in the Insders preview, so I don't really want to downgrade.

Hi Louis,

We are sorry for the inconvenience.

There is issue with Microsoft in configuring the third party controls into the Visual Studio 2017 toolbox in the Fall Creator Update (10.0; 16299). We are already checking with MSDN forum regarding this.

https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/content/problem/211387/cant-add-custom-control-to-the-design-in-uwp-with.html

As of now, you can use the Syncfusion NuGet toolbox configuration from the following link for configuring the Syncfusion UWP controls into Visual Studio 2017 toolbox if you are using Fall Creator Update (10.0; 16299).

Thank you, I voted for the issue on the visual studio developer comunity, and I got it working with the NuGet package.

One last question that I cannot find the answer for online, what is the difference between the UWP46 and UWP packages?

Hi Louis Somers,

Thanks for your update.

Package naming is the only different between the UWP46 and UWP package and we have provided “UWP46” package naming until v16.1.0.26. Currently, we modified the Syncfusion UWP NuGet package name. Find below the Knowledge Base for more information about Syncfusion UWP NuGet package structure changes.

So, you can use “UWP” mention package in 2018 Volume 1 SP1 release (v16.1.0.32) onwards.

Dheepa Kumar
