Vector graphic not rendered in PDF

Hi,

I have a Vector Graphic embedded in a Word Document.

I can see it in the debugger in the WordDocument tree as a XmlParaItem Entity.

If I save the WordDocument as .docx then I can see the Vector Graphic and it is visible.

If I save the WordDocument as PDF then the Vector Graphic has been removed and is not visible.

Is there a way to get Vector Graphics to show in PDF?

Thanks,
Jonathan

Hi Jonathan,

Thank you for contacting Syncfusion support.

Essential DocIO support to preserve both scalar and vector graphics in Word to PDF conversion. Only the unsupported elements of the DOCX file are considered as XmlParaItem entity, to avoid data loss in DOCX to DOCX conversion. We suspect the vector graphics may be placed within any unsupported element in your Word document. We need to investigate further to trace the exact reason. So, kindly provide us the following details,
1. Input Word document along with the code snippets used for Word to PDF conversion
2. Screenshot/Output document
3. Our latest release version v16.10.24, share the version used on your side

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Hi,

I've attached sample input and output documents.

I've tested this on versions v14.3.0.49 & v16.1.0.24 and the results are the same.

This is the sample code:

var doc = new WordDocument();

doc.OpenReadOnly("Input.docx", FormatType.Dotx);

doc.Save("Output.docx", FormatType.Docx);

var pdf = new DocToPDFConverter().ConvertToPDF(doc);

pdf.Save("Output.pdf");

Thanks,
Jonathan

Hi Jonathan,

Thank you for your update.

On further analyzing the given input Word document, we have found group shape which is preserved as XmlParaItem entity and it is not a vector image. Currently DocIO doesn’t provide support for group shapes preservation in Word to PDF conversion. We have already logged this as a feature request in our database. At present, we cannot provide any concrete timeline for this feature implementation. We will let you know once this feature is implemented.

As a workaround kindly modify the group shape as image in the input Word document thereby it will be preserved properly in the converted PDF. We have modified your Word document with image.
Please find the modified document from below link:

Please let us know if you have any other questions.
