Record should get selected on mouse click and not mouse over

Consider I have entries like a1, a2, ... , a10000. If I type "a1" the list is long enough and if there is mouse over the list that particular records gets selected. If I hit enter, I was hoping to get a1 as the record but i got the one on which the mouse pointed.

This is causing some trouble to me. Is there a way such that the record doesn't get selected or focused on mouse over but on mouse click.
In the attached image I am hoping that the focus stays on upc2 and not where the mouse points.

From your update, we understand that you are mentioning the below behavior as an issue 
 
“Item get selected when hover the mouse and pressing the enter key instead of text entered in the control “ 
 
If so, we have observed this scenario in our control from our side. We have checked the behavior of MS ComboBox regarding the selection of item in mouse over and found the same behavior. So, we have conformed this as the standard behavior. We have prepared a simple sample with ComboBox which replicates the scenario and it can be downloaded from the below location.
