Struggling to open certain excel docs

Good afternoon,

I have noticed that, while the spreadsheetcontrol can open most excel docs easily, others it cannot handle. I have had a few docs that were full of formulas, charts, pivot tables, named ranges, and other excel features, but were not terribly large files (3,000kb - 5,000kb) and they cannot open, instead I get one of two possible errors:

1) Exception thrown: 'System.AccessViolationException' in Syncfusion.XlsIO.Base.dll

Additional information: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.

2) Exception thrown: 'System.ArgumentException' in Syncfusion.XlsIO.Base.dll

Additional information: #NAME?

Is there a known method to remedy this issue?

Thanks!

Hi Travis,

We have checked the reported issues “Exceptions are throws while importing the excel sheet” with our sample, but we were unable to reproduce it.  Based on the exception you have shared, we have checked with the concern team(XlsIO) also, but they confirmed that it can be validated, only if you share the stack trace information and the excel sheet which helps them to analyze the issue better and update you with proper solution.

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, the data i have been trying to open is confidential so I cannot share it.

All I am doing is trying to open the workbooks via the .open() function.

Again, the docs do not exceed 5000kb in size, but they do have many formulas, charts, and named ranges. Are their any known issues that impede the opening of files? I do not always get the exceptions unless I set the debugger to break on all exceptions, otherwise i get the red x, which I understand is an error with the painting.

These docs do open fine in Excel. Are their any methods you would recommend to improve the spreadsheetcontrols opening function?

Hi Travis,

As the exception is related with XlsIO source, they could not able to validate the issue until the excel file is given.  Hence  we request you to provide the full stack trace information and video reference to analyze the issue and update with better solution.
