Installation fails with no error

I can't install the latest studio edition (

  1. If i choose to install with my account details it always says i have the wrong username or password - so login fails through the install app. I can login in the website with no issue
  2. if i choose to install with the key it claims to be installing but ends in seconds, claims installation was successful, but all install folders (app and samples) are empty

A friend of mine installed using his account details with no issue so i guess there's something wrong on my side - i just can't tell what

Any ideas?
