how to determine links between symbols

Hi,

i'd like to save some data from symbols  into a database from my diagram.

This one has symbols who are linked and i want to determine for example if my symbol A is linked with my symbol B.

Its a hierarchical diagram and my goal is to save this information : symbol A is the manager of symbol B and symbol C for example.
