Formula Cannot Parse Space Operator

I have two named ranges and would like to print out the value that occurs in the intersection between these two named ranges.
In excel I can write "=Data!AnswerKeyRow Data!Question1" and as expected, the two ranges on the Data page are intersected using the space operator, and the result is printed.
When that exact line is copied to a cell's Formula parameter I get the following exception.
Unexpected token.Unexpected token type: Identifier3D, string value: Data!Question1  at position 19. Formula: Data!AnswerKeyRow Data!Question1, Position: 32

Can CLsIO parse the space operator?
