Excel Cell Color

In our Excel export code, we apply the CellStyle to each row after it is built (reason is that there are regular and alternating row styles). It seems that if I apply different color to a cell (.CellStyle.Color) before the other CellStyle is applied, the color applied is lost. Is there a way to not have that happen?

Thanks.
