Combo Filter for Formatted Columns

When binding the grid, one of the columns (name = Quality) is a c# double.  We set the format for this column to 'P0' which formats a cell value from .35 to 35%.  That works fine. 

However, we have the column combo filter turned on & if the user chooses '35%' no results are returned and the grid is emptied until we clear the filter.  If the user then defines a custom filter for the Quality column (Equals '.35') then results are returned and the grid is properly filtered.  What do we need to do in order for the user to filter that column by choosing '35%' from the combobox?
