Currently, we only export to CSV or TSV files that excel can read. You can see code in about the 3rd or 4th entry in this forum thread.

This code should work for either GridControl, or GridDataBoundGrid. In our upcoming 2.0 release, we will be using our ExcelRW product to out put to xls. It is not in the current beta, but should be in the release.
