Syncfusion Announces Essential Studio® 2016 Volume 1

Research Triangle Park, NC, April 19, 2016—Syncfusion, Inc., the developer solutions company of choice, introduces its first volume release of the year: Essential Studio® 2016 Volume 1, adding enhancements and features across all supported platforms. Two suites in particular—Essential Studio® for Universal Windows Platform (UWP) and Essential Studio® for Xamarin—received substantial enhancements.

"Given the announcements Microsoft recently made at Build, we feel that customers will be most interested in what we’re doing with our UWP and Xamarin suites,” says Daniel Jebaraj, Syncfusion’s vice president. “We’ve been developing for each of those platforms since they were introduced in the belief that they are powerful options for cross-platform development."

UWP and Xamarin
Volume 1 brings the control count in Syncfusion’s UWP offering to more than 35 controls. In addition to the spreadsheet control—an Excel-inspired component allowing users to create, edit, view, and format Excel files—two other popular products were ported to UWP: Report Viewer, which adaptively renders reports for phones, tablets, or desktops, and Essential Presentation, which allows PowerPoint files to be modified.

This release also adds an enhanced pivot chart, grid, and gauge to the WPF suite, and improves the WPF chart, data grid, and diagram controls.

Volume 1 increases Syncfusion’s offering for Xamarin to more than 50 controls with complete support for Xamarin.iOS, Xamarin.Android, and Xamarin.Forms—all designed to be easy to use in Visual Studio.New components include carousel and rotator controls for interactively navigating images, and a numeric up-down control that adheres to UI culture and can display values in different formats.

Significant updates were also made to the Xamarin chart and grid controls and PDF framework.

WPF and Windows Forms
In addition to increasing the number of controls and frameworks for newer platforms, Syncfusion continues to expand its offering for established desktop platforms like Windows Forms and WPF.

The Windows Forms suite contains a new spreadsheet control and navigation drawer, and includes updates to its reporting, maps, and PDF frameworks. Syncfusion’s WPF suite adds date-picker and accordion controls, introduces a navigation drawer, and brings powerful changes to its data grids, charts, diagrams, reporting, and heat maps.

JavaScript
Updates in Volume 1 were not confined to the domain of .NET—Syncfusion’s suites for Android, iOS, and JavaScript also received a number of enhancements. Most notably, the JavaScript offering, with over 80 controls, added the following:

  • Angular 2 support for all JavaScript controls.
  • A new kanban board for managing workflows.
  • Common mobile themes for all JavaScript controls.
  • Updated diagram, chart, rich text editor, Gantt, grid, and pivot controls

Three additional major releases are scheduled for later this year. For more on this release, see Syncfusion’s What’s New section at www.syncfusion.com.
