2014 Volume 1 New Controls to the JS Suite

We are excited to announce the arrival of our first Essential Studio update of the year! Our focus this quarter has been bringing our JavaScript suite up to speed with our award-winning .NET controls. We’ve added a set of 27 exceptional touch-optimized Mobile JavaScript libraries with a variety of user interface controls and data visualization features to help you build quality apps. We’ve also created new libraries for the JavaScript suite, including Diagram, Gantt, and Schedule, and made big improvements to others, such as the Chart and Maps.

The new Mobile JavaScript libraries make it easy to incorporate new features into your applications. They contain themes for Windows Phone, iOS, and Android, allowing you to seamlessly integrate their features with a device’s existing UI. Our JavaScript suite is built on HTML 5, providing the best performance for web applications without sacrificing functionality. There are endless ways to customize the libraries for any UI or audience you have in mind, and Knockout support is provided to make data binding simple. In addition, each feature is touch-enabled so users can interact with your applications with equal precision on any device.

The Diagram library consists of plenty of interactive features, including a built-in drag and drop palette for node creation. Place, connect, and rotate nodes using convenient buttons, or use one of the included automatic layout templates. You can also save and export your diagrams as images.

Use the JavaScript Gantt library to manage projects by adding resources, tracking growth, setting deadlines, and more. Numeric data renders smoothly, and baselines are supported to help illustrate progress.

The Schedule library for JavaScript enables the creation of appointments in a calendar layout. Customize date ranges, set reminders, and view appointments by day, week, or month. You can even set your schedule to recognize your work week.

Our Chart library for JavaScript now includes smart labels that can be applied to add detail and definition to chart segments, as well as several other key features already present in our .NET chart controls, like editable axes and row-based layouts.

The JavaScript Maps library has been updated with interactive legends, and gradient color legends can now be used to illustrate ranges of values in map segments. Support for OpenStreetMap has also been added to improve trip route displays using the site’s layered map data.

Great product updates like this one would not be possible without the support and input of our customers, who continue to amaze us with how they use our products. Thanks to all of you for joining us as we begin another year of innovation, and stay tuned for exciting announcements on big data and Windows 8.1 as we begin working on Volume 2.
