Overview
ESRI Shapefile Support
Essential Maps lets you load any ESRI Shapefiles and visualize them. You can load the shapefiles either from the file or by Uri property. A shapefile is a vector storage format used to collect geometric location information and associated attributes. Shapefiles spatially describe a map’s geometries as points, polylines, and polygons.

Bing Maps Support
Essential Maps now has built-in support for visualizing Bing Maps. Use this feature to create a rich map application that features higher resolution images than are possible with shapefiles. Bing Maps integration is capable of aerial and detailed road views with complete zoom and pan functionality. This feature requires a Bing Maps key from Microsoft.

Labels, Symbols and Paths
Essential Maps has data binding support for labels, symbols, and paths. This makes it possible for labels, symbols, and paths to be generated from a bound ItemsSource collection.You can draw custom paths within a map to depict routes and add labels to those paths. While performing zoom and pan operations, paths are automatically updated. This feature can be used to create a street-level view in a map.
