Overview

The OLAP client control is an ad hoc analysis tool that can be easily bound to any OLAP data source to provide a visual presentation of the information retrieved from multidimensional data. It lets you to slice and dice the Cube elements of your choice to visualize performance, trends, and outliers.

Effective Data Binding

The OLAP client control enables you to retrieve multidimensional data from either SSAS or any XML/A provider. Following is the list of data sources our OLAP controls support:

  • Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS)
  • Mondrian
  • Active Pivot
  • Oracle

Data Exploration

OLAP client has built-in support to drill up and drill down to visualize the grid and chart information in both abstract and detailed views.

Slicing and Dicing

Slicing and dicing creates a new view for the end user by selecting limited dimensions and measures from the Cube and by filtering them.

Key Performance Indicators

KPI

KPI is a collection of calculations associated with a measure group that evaluates business success.

Virtual KPI

End users can create their own KPI and write expressions at runtime. This helps with visualizing growth and trends over time.

Named Sets

Named sets are MDX expressions that return a set of dimension members, which can be defined and saved as a part of the Cube definition. Named sets simplify MDX queries and provide useful aliases for complex, typically used, set expressions.

Calculated Members

You can now create and display dimensions and measures on your own at run time through an interactive dialog with ease. They are saved as a part of the Cube definition so that you can use them anytime.

Data Shaping and Manipulation

Filtering by Member

You can filter the headers in rows and columns based on hierarchy members for selective displays of records.

Filtering by Value

You can filter the results in rows and columns based on active measures for selective displays of records.

Sorting by Value

You can sort the results in rows and columns based on active measures either in ascending or descending order.

Drill Through

Drilling through easily obtains the list of raw items for a particular value or summary cell.

Dynamic Paging

Extensive support has been provided to load and render large amounts of data without any performance constraint through pager.

Persisting Reports

You can store the reports at current session as a stream in a database for later use. Reports can also be stored in XML format.

Defer Update

Users are allowed to refresh the control only on demand and not during every UI interaction.

Exporting and Printing

You can export OLAP chart to Word, PDF, and image formats. Whereas OLAP grid can be exported to Excel, Word, PDF and CSV formats. Also, you can print OLAP chart but not OLAP grid.

Rich Look and Feel

OLAP client ships with built-in themes like Blend, Office, and Metro.
