Overview

The OLAP chart control reads OLAP information and visualizes it in graphical format with the ability to drill up and down.

Effective Data Binding

The OLAP chart control enables you to retrieve multidimensional data from SSAS or any XML/A provider. Following are the list of data sources our OLAP controls widely support:

  • Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS)
  • Mondrian
  • Active Pivot
  • Oracle

Chart Types

The OLAP chart control allows users to visualize OLAP data using different chart types, including: area charts - stacked area, spline area, step line area; bar charts - stacked bar, 100% stacked bar; column charts - stacked column, 100% stacked column; line charts - spline, rotated spline, step line; pie charts, as well as radar charts, funnel charts, and scatter charts.

Data Exploration

Drill Member

OLAP chart delivers a detailed view of any selected level member while drilling down and shows an abstract view after drilling up.

Drill Position

OLAP chart allows you to drill only the current position of a selected level member, excluding others.

Slicing and Dicing

Slicing and dicing creates a new view for the end user by selecting limited dimensions and measures from the Cube and filtering them.

Key Performance Indicators

KPI is a collection of calculations associated with a measure group that evaluates business success.

Named Sets

Named sets are MDX expressions that return a set of dimension members, which can be defined and saved as a part of the Cube definition. Named sets simplify MDX queries and provide useful aliases for complex, typically used, set expressions.

Calculated Members

You can now create and display dimensions and measures on your own. This can be done only through the report programmatically.

Persisting Reports

Settings in the OLAP chart control can be serialized to a XML format and loaded back through the built-in deserialization options.

Dynamic Paging

Extensive support has been provided to load and render a large amount of data without any performance constraint through pager.

Key Elements

Legends

Legends allow users to distinguish the series and data points in chart.

Axes Labels

Label content can be formatted, styled, and rotated to an angle.

Point Labels

Point lables provide information about a data point with the help of adornments in series.

Title

Titles provide captions for the chart and chart axes, describing the controls’ actual purpose in an application.

Animation

Effects can be provided to chart series while rendering so the charts have a unique look.

Watermark

Watermark provides faint imprints on the chart that can be either an image or text.

Interactive Features

Zooming

Users can take a close-up look at a data point plotted in the series at run time with OLAP chart’s zooming feature.

Panning

Users can click and drag the pointer across a zoomed-in chart to navigate to data points for better viewing.

Tooltip

Tooltips provide basic information about a series while hovering the pointer over it.

Exporting and Printing

There is a rich set of options available for exporting data to Word, PDF, and image formats, and printing the same. Several options are also provided to customize the exporting and printing operations.
