OLAP Gauge

OLAP gauge for Silverlight provides users the ability to display Key Performance Indicators (KPI) from the OLAP cube. KPIs can be displayed with goals and status visualizations (traffic light, road signs, and standard arrow types are supported) to help create executive dashboards.

Data Binding

OLAP control enables you to retrieve multidimensional data either from SSAS or from any XML/A provider and present the OLAP information in meaningful ways. Following is the list of data sources our OLAP controls support:

  • Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services (MS SSAS)
  • Mondrian
  • ActivePivot

Key Performance Indicators

KPI are a collection of calculations associated with a measure group that evaluates business success. Typically, these calculations are a combination of multidimensional expressions (MDX) or calculated members. There are four different types of available indicators:

  • KPI Goal
  • KPI Status
  • KPI Trend
  • KPI Value

Frame Types

OLAP gauge supports built-in frame types to provide effective rim styles. The following are the frame types supported by OLAP gauge: circular, semi-circular, quarter circular.

OLAP gauge control displays multiple gauges in a structured layout. You can customize the layout by setting row count and column count. By default, OLAP gauge will be in wrap layout based on the available space, and we can customize the number of gauges to be displayed in rows and columns by setting row count and column count.

OLAP gauge control provides support to change the radius of gauge at run time.

OLAP gauge provides the option to display information such as value and goal while hovering over the gauge pointer and marker, respectively. Tooltip is categorized into two: pointer tooltip and marker tooltip. Pointer tooltip provides value information when the mouse pointer is moved over the pointer. Marker tooltip provides goal information when the mouse pointer is moved over the marker.

Localization is the process of customizing the user interface (UI) as locale-specific in order to display regional data. Using this feature, data can be displayed in a specific language and culture, of a particular country or region. Visualization of the control right-to-left is also applicable.

OLAP gauge supports different types of predefined themes, allowing users to switch among them to view the controls in different looks. Supported themes are blend, metro, Office2003, Office2007Black, Office2007Blue, and Office2007Silver.
