How to customize Xamarin.Forms listview group header template in MVVM ?

1 min read

You can customize the GroupHeaderTemplate using the ViewModel property. Here, GroupHeaderTemplate loaded elements customized to shown or hidden by binding the ViewModel property. This will automatically refresh the UI when the ViewModel property is changed at runtime.

public class ContactsViewModel : INotifyPropertyChanged
{
    private bool isLabelVisible = false;
    public bool IsLabelVisible
    {
        get { return isLabelVisible; }
        set
        {
            isLabelVisible = value;
            OnPropertyChanged("IsLabelVisible");
        }
    }
}

<DataTemplate x:Name="GroupHeaderTemplate"  x:Key="GroupHeaderTemplate">
    <ViewCell>
        <ViewCell.View>
            <Grid>
                <Grid.ColumnDefinitions>
                    <ColumnDefinition Width="30" />
                    <ColumnDefinition Width="*" />
                    <ColumnDefinition Width="40" />

                </Grid.ColumnDefinitions>
                <Image x:Name="NormalImage" Grid.Column="0" HorizontalOptions="Center"
                        Source="{Binding IsExpand, Converter={StaticResource BoolToImageConverter}}"
                        VerticalOptions="Center"/>
                <Label x:Name="label" Text="{Binding Key}" Grid.Column="1"
                        IsVisible="{Binding Path=BindingContext.IsLabelVisible,
                                         Source={x:Reference listView}}"/>
            </Grid>
        </ViewCell.View>
    </ViewCell>
</DataTemplate>
