How to handle the network error - "A transport level error occurred....."?

The “A transport level error occurred…” exception will be thrown if network connection is down even for few seconds while our dashboard application is communicating with the server database. Also when more number of user access the database server at the same time, then the server may slow down resulting in network error. This article provides suggestion to rectify this error. 

  1. You can extend "Connection Timeout" in your given connection string.

Example: "Data Source=(local); Initial Catalog=Adventure Works; Integrated Security= SSPI; Connection Timeout=30".

  1. You can define the "Pool Size" in your connection string.

 Example: "Data Source=(local); Initial Catalog=Adventure Works; Integrated Security= SSPI; Connection Timeout=30; Max Pool Size=3";

  1. Need to check network connectivity and data transfer rate (speed) of the network. If your network is disconnected while our application is contacting the server, you may face this network exception.

  1. Need to check the utilization of CPU/RAM (of the machine in which the server is installed) is high or low. If the CPU/RAM utilization is high (greater than 80%), then the server may become slow to respond.
  2. Try removing pooling property from your connection string - "Pooling=False". If the given connection string has Pooling property then set it to false.
