How to display the axis labels for all datapoints?

Platform: UWP |
Control: SfChart |
Published Date: March 4, 2016 |
Last Revised Date: June 27, 2019 |
.NET Framework: 4.5
Tags: axislabels

Description:

In SfChart, axis labels are shown based on intervals, which can be either calculated internally or defined explicitly. So, there is no assurance that all the data points in a series have a label in the axis.

Solution:

You can achieve this requirement by creating your own custom axis and overriding the GenerateVisibleLabels method as shown in the following code snippets. In the following example, the CustomDateTimeAxis class has been created and inherited from DateTimeAxis where the GenerateVisibleLabels method is overridden.

 XAML

<chart:SfChart.PrimaryAxis>
<local:CustomDateTimeAxis EnableScrollBar="True"
LabelRotationAngle="90" LabelFormat="dd/MMM hh:mm"  Header="DateTime" />
</chart:SfChart.PrimaryAxis>

C#

protected override void GenerateVisibleLabels()
        {
            List<DateTime> list = new List<DateTime>();
            foreach (var n in (this.DataContext as ViewModel).HeartRate)
            {
                if (!list.Contains(n.Year))
                    list.Add(n.Year);
            }
            foreach (var n in list)
            {
                var position = n.ToOADate();

                if (VisibleRange.Inside(position))
                {
                    VisibleLabels.Add(new ChartAxisLabel(n.ToOADate(),  n.ToString(LabelFormat, CultureInfo.CurrentCulture), n.ToOADate()));
                }
            }
}

Output

Chart Axis labels generated for all the data points in WPF
