How to configure .NET Framework 2.0/3.5/4.0/4.5 controls in Visual Studio 2008/2010/2012/2013?

 Configuring the .NET Framework Syncfusion controls in the corresponding Visual Studio Toolbox

You can configure the .NET Framework Syncfusion controls in the corresponding Visual Studio Toolbox through Syncfusion Toolbox Installer for version 11.3.0.30 and later. For example, you can configure .NET Framework 2.0 Syncfusion controls in Visual Studio 2005 Toolbox alone through our Toolbox Installer. Syncfusion has removed configuration options for .NET Framework 2.0 Syncfusion controls in Visual Studio 2008/2010/2012/2013 toolbox through the Syncfusion Toolbox Installer for version 11.3.0.30 and later. But, you can configure the required .NET Framework version (for example, .NET Framework 2.0) controls in the Visual Studio (2008/2010/2012/2013) Toolbox. The following steps illustrate how to do this:

i) Ensure the required .NET Framework Syncfusion assemblies are installed in the corresponding framework GAC location:

• For 2.0 and 3.5 .NET Framework: C:\Windows\assembly\
• For 4.0, 4.5, and 4.5.1 .NET Framework: C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\assembly\GAC_MSIL\

ii) If the required .NET Framework Syncfusion assemblies are not installed in the GAC, then please run the 'Assembly Manager' utility from the Syncfusion Dashboard of the respective version to install the required .NET Framework Syncfusion assemblies in GAC. For more information about Assembly Manager, see https://help.syncfusion.com/common/essential-studio/utilities#assembly-manager

If the required .NET Framework has not been installed in your machine, please install the required .NET Framework, and then click the Recheck located at the bottom of the dashboard and perform step (ii). The following screen shot illustrates this. 

iii) Open the command prompt with administrator privileges and navigate to the following location:

 {ProgramFilesFolder}\Syncfusion\Essential Studio\{version}\Utilities\ToolBoxInstallers\

Example: C:\Program Files\Syncfusion\Essential Studio\11.3.0.30\Utilities\ToolBoxInstallers\

iv) If you wish to configure .NET Framework 2.0 Syncfusion controls in Visual Studio 2013 Toolbox, then run the

'ToolboxInstallerConsole.exe' with the following arguments: /action:reinstall /framework:{which Framework controls you want to            configure}in{respective Visual Studio framework version} /version:{Version}

Example: /action:reinstall /framework:2.0in4.5.1 /version:11.3.0.30 The following screen shot illustrates this.

v) Click OK.

vi) Now, .NET Framework 2.0 Syncfusion Controls will be configured in the Visual Studio 2013 Toolbox. Similarly, you can configure our 3.5, 4.0, and 4.5 Framework controls in Visual Studio 2013 Toolbox by passing the necessary arguments to the 'ToolboxInstallerConsole.exe'. The arguments for corresponding frameworks are as follows:

• For 3.5 Framework: /action:reinstall /framework:3.5in4.5.1 /version:{Version}
• For 4.0 Framework: /action:reinstall /framework:4.0in4.5.1 /version:{Version}
• For 4.5 Framework: /action:reinstall /framework:4.5in4.5.1 /version:{Version}

Likewise, you can configure the required .NET Framework Syncfusion controls in the required Visual Studio Toolbox by passing the corresponding arguments to the 'ToolboxInstallerConsole.exe'. 

Configuring Syncfusion controls for particular platforms:

     If you wish to install Syncfusion controls in any particular platform (for example, WPF) of .NET Framework (for example, .NET Framework 4.0) in Visual Studio (for example, Visual Studio 2012) Toolbox, then please run the 'ToolboxInstallerConsole.exe' with the following arguments:

/action:reinstall /framework:{which Framework controls you want to configure}in{respective Visual Studio framework version} /version:{Version} /platform:{platform name}

Example: /action:reinstall /framework:4.0in4.5 /version:11.3.0.30 /platform:wpf

The following screen shot illustrates this.

• For ASP.NET platform: enter platform as "asp.net" (that is, /action:reinstall /framework:4.0in4.5 /version:11.3.0.30 /platform: asp.net)
• For ASP.NET(Classic) platform: enter platform as “ASP.NET(Classic)” (that is, /action:reinstall /framework:4.0in4.5.1 /version:11.3.0.30 /platform:ASP.NET(Classic)  )
• For Windows Forms platform: enter platform as "windowsforms"
• For Silverlight platform: enter platform as "silverlight" 

Similarly, you can configure the required platform controls of corresponding frameworks in the required Visual Studio Toolbox.
