How to mail merge Word document in Linux (Mono) in ASP.NET Core?

Mail merge is a process of merging data from a data source to a Word template document. 1. Execute the following command in Linux terminal to create a new ASP.NET Core Console project in Linux
   

   dotnet new console

2. Install the Syncfusion.DocIO.Net.Core NuGet package as a reference to your ASP.NET Core project from NuGet.org by execute the following command.
   

   dotnet add package Syncfusion.DocIO.Net.Core -v 16.4.0.54 -s https://www.nuget.org/

3. Add the following Namespaces in Program file.

   using Syncfusion.DocIO;
   using Syncfusion.DocIO.DLS;
   using System.IO;
   

4. Add the following code snippet in Program.cs file.

   //Create FileStream to opens the Word template document
   FileStream fileStreamPath = new FileStream(@"Data/Letter Formatting.docx", FileMode.Open, FileAccess.Read, FileShare.ReadWrite);
   using(WordDocument document = new WordDocument(fileStreamPath, FormatType.Docx))
   {
      string[] fieldNames = { "ContactName", "CompanyName", "Address", "City", "Country", "Phone" };
      string[] fieldValues = { "Nancy Davolio", "Syncfusion", "507 - 20th Ave. E.Apt. 2A", "Seattle, WA", "USA", "(206) 555-9857-x5467" };
    
      //Performs the mail merge
      document.MailMerge.Execute(fieldNames, fieldValues);
    
      //Create FileStream to save the Word file
      FileStream outputStream = new FileStream("Result.docx", FileMode.Create, FileAccess.ReadWrite, FileShare.ReadWrite);
    
      //Saves the Word file
      document.Save(outputStream, FormatType.Docx);
    
      //Close the Word file
      document.Close();
      outputStream.Flush();
      outputStream.Dispose();
   }
   

5. Execute the following command to restore the NuGet packages.
   

   dotnet restore

6. Execute the following command in terminal to run the application ASP.NET Core application in Linux.
   

   dotnet run
