Provide support for Markdown-to-HTML in the Block Editor

Add a capability to convert Markdown content to sanitized HTML within the Block Editor. This enables previews, embeds, and exports that render Markdown accurately (including GFM features) while preserving security and consistency with the editor’s styling.

Requirements:
  • Public API: Provide a documented method to convert Markdown string to HTML.
  • Markdown support: Handle GFM (tables, task lists, strikethrough, autolinks, code with language).
  • Security: Sanitize output HTML with a configurable allowlist for tags/attributes; prevent XSS.
