Image Editor Component is Laggy

The image editor component is laggy with toolbar actions. After each click it takes multiple seconds for the action to complete. Why is that so when on the demo page for the component things are really snappy and responsive?

The code used for this was just this an sfimageeditor with only the height parameter set.
